Family Recipe Hub ("we", "us", "the app") is a household recipe and meal-planning application. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Data We Collect

Account information

• Email address and display name (provided during sign-in via our authentication provider)
• Profile picture (if you choose to upload one)

Household and content data

• Household names and membership information
• Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and pantry inventory you create
• Household tasks, cooking assignments, and challenge entries
• In-app chat messages between household members
• Activity feed events (e.g. "recipe added", "task completed")

Financial data

• Shopping item prices and household budget settings, if you choose to use these features

Location data

• Store locations (latitude and longitude) you manually add for store-tagged shopping lists. We do not track your device location in the background.

AI interactions

• Conversations with the in-app AI cooking assistant are stored to provide conversation history. These are processed by Cloudflare Workers AI.

Device permissions

• Calendar access (optional) — used solely to sync your meal plan to your device calendar. We do not read or store your existing calendar events.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the app's features (recipes, meal planning, shopping, tasks, chat)
• To authenticate your identity and manage household membership
• To deliver AI-powered cooking suggestions when you use the assistant
• To sync meal plans to your device calendar (if you grant permission)

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure:

• Structured data in Cloudflare D1 (SQLite database)
• Uploaded images in Cloudflare R2 (object storage)

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to the backend requires a valid authentication token.

4. Third-Party Services

• WorkOS — authentication and single sign-on. WorkOS receives your email to verify your identity. WorkOS Privacy Policy

5. Data Retention

• Shopping history and completed tasks older than 90 days are automatically purged.
• Expired guest access codes are cleaned up automatically.
• All other data is retained as long as your account is active.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Update or delete your profile information within the app
• Leave a household at any time, which removes your association with that household's data
• Request a full export or deletion of your data by contacting us

7. Children's Privacy

Family Recipe Hub supports household "child" member roles managed by a parent or guardian. Child accounts are created and controlled by the household admin. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13 without parental consent.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
